Sycamore RPC's Pastor

  Shawn Anderson

Shawn Anderson

The True and Living God dragged Shawn Anderson to His Son, King Jesus, in the summer of 1996. He has considered a text central to his life to be 1Tim 1:15, "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."

He spent a few years studying pastoral ministry and was a member of the Associate Reformed Church (ARPC) in Grand Rapids. Shawn was led to become a registered nurse which gave him the practical life experience that he could not get in an academic setting. He did get caught up in an unhealthy church in Albany, NY which the Lord used to humble him, but the best part of the experience was meeting his future wife, Tammy, who he married in 2004. Shawn finished his Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies at SUNY Albany.

In 2008 Shawn moved his family back to Grand Rapids and was reunited with the ARPC there, which transferred into the RPCNA. Shawn was taken under care in Fall 2009 and studied both at Puritan Reformed Seminary and Reformed Presbyterian Seminary, and received an M. Div. in 2013. He has interned with First RPC (Grand Rapids, MI), First RPC (Beaver Falls, PA), Immanuel RPC (West Lafayette, IN), and Covenant Fellowship RPC (Pittsburgh, PA).

In 2013 Shawn accepted a call to Sycamore RPC. He also serves as Principal of Sycamore Covenant Academy and is teaching Old Testament Survey this year. The Lord has blessed Shawn and Tammy with three children: Simeon, Zion, and Enoch. The Andersons enjoy fellowship around coffee and food, walks through the city, visiting playgrounds, and reading together.
